We have a Kate Pink Kaleidoscope pillow which has a touch of blues and greens, a hint of yellow and lots of different colors softly blended so you can mix it easily with other colors for decorating. It adds life, is fun and makes a happy home.

These prints update a classic traditional style home. This modern and trendy design is a 70s inspired Kaleidoscope print created from one of our abstract paintings. And if you’re looking to complete the look, you can match it with our Blue Grasscloth wallpaper BX10022 from our Naturals Grasscloth Collection.

This slate Blue Grasscloth is rich and offers a great texture on the wall, a nice balanced backdrop to the blush pink kaleidoscope pillow. The mix of the grasscloth wallpaper with the kaleidoscope pillow on the navy couch offers a depth to the room’s interior style yet also lifts it with a fun and happy feeling because of the pillow.

Bright yet textural and sophisticated, a great look. The grasscloth overall is a lovely texture to put on any wall!

Eclectic Chinoiserie Style

February 4, 2022

Why is Eclectic Chinoiserie décor so popular? That’s simple… it never goes out of style.

It is always a classic pattern that can be interpreted into many home décor styles.

One classic Chinoiserie pattern is a scenic toile. Here we see it in the wallpaper, consisting of a Chinoiserie scene with pagodas, lotus flowers and trees.

toile wallpaper in green in a bedroom with new pillows from daisy bennett designs in Zanzibar, heron chinoiserie and watercolor

These scenic toiles often come in various colors or can be a classic one color pattern like this sage green and white Chinoiserie toile wallpaper. The beauty is that it mixes so easily with other prints and becomes a beautiful backdrop to other designs.

This room evokes interest visually by drawing your eye into the room using accent pillows.

Master pattern is the accent Heron pillow evened out with a chartreuse zebra print and abstract watercolor pillow, making colors flow effortlessly across the bed and room.

If you like pattern on pattern, this is a great example of how to create the look. Use a classic wallpaper for a backdrop and then add a texture, novelty themed pillow with a classic animal print.

The look is stylish, layered yet balanced visually on this vintage French bed. The gold highlights on the furniture bring in warmth while the white & black lamp and white dresser with gold accents updates the room creating a colorful layered eclectic Chinoiserie décor.

Wallpaper is from the Chelsea Lane Collection and the pillows you can contact me, or leave a comment below if you want to order any as they will be coming to my website soon.

This week I want to talk to you about some decorating ideas and tips to accessorize your home when using a novelty print wallpaper.

I love birds and one of my favorite wallpaper patterns is our Audubon from the Anthology Collection. It is a fun novelty print with the birds in the birdcage. It would look amazing as an accent wall in a living room.

What to put with Novelty Prints?

With our new pillow designs is it easy to accessorize this pattern. Audubon has great golds, oranges and blues.

And I just love our new Moderno pillow in red as the perfect accent.

This pillow was inspired by a modern art painting, the shades of blush, reds and golds all compliment the wallpaper tones which also have blush, golds and reds in the birds and bird cages.

Try it on a gold couch, white or green couch. It certainly will add a pop of color and bring out the colors in the wallpaper.

August 20, 2021

Todays design tip is all about decorating with green wallpaper ideas.

Ever heard the term, green with envy? Well people are going to green with envy when they see your home decorated with these beautiful wallpapers.

If you want to give your home a fresh breath of life that a coat of paint won’t do, our wallpaper ideas are for you.

The Meaning of the Color Green

Did you know that green represents communication, and in the Celtic it represents hope and faith. Green has always represented rebirth in springtime when there is regjuvination in nature. And that’s why a lot of people are attracted to the color green.

It’s bringing nature indoors.

Decorate with our Green Patterned Wallpapers

In the video below, we talk about different wallpaper ideas and how you can take advantage of them to give your space an attractive new look.

Wallpaper adds great value to your home. Whether you are selling it or just want to feel happy and update your interior, wallpaper is the answer. There is lots of styles to suit many looks

We have a beautiful Fern Print, the Palmera from the Woodlands Resource collection in a bold format about 18 inches long. It’s simple, yet stately. Really makes a statement!

It can be mixed with our Mauwie pattern. It looks almost like a grass cloth in this weave pattern, but it is a print. These patterns would look great with navy, black, and white.

Another pattern that’s popular are geometric patterns. This ogee pattern is very easy on the eye. Curvilinear shapes are trending to be moving forward in design and in furniture. It is a very comforting pattern, just like in nature, your eye will naturally flow with the design.

  • Urban in Celery Green
  • Catwalk in Green

I like to have patterns have more than one color of green. Just like the Catwalk in green, it can be easy to mix other greens with it. You can mix in fabrics, your bedding, and your towels to bring the design together. It just gives you more options. These patterns complement each other well.

If you are looking for something very simple and elegant, the toile in green has an Asian feel to it. Its a very simple pattern and looks fantastic with black, pink, or navy.

  • Asiana, from Chelsea Lane
  • Soliloquy, from Anthology Resource

The Fifth Wall

Our grass cloth wallpaper is a textured wallpaper and painted with lots of green shades in it. It would look fantastic on the fifth wall. The fifth wall is what we call the ceiling in design. I love a wallpapered ceiling, I think it totally finishes off a room.

Whether you are selling your home or just want to feel happy and update your interior, wallpaper is the answer.

Design Trends for 2022

August 13, 2021

design trends for 2022

What are some of the color and home design trends for 2022?

We are seeing some pastels making their way into the color field in home decor. One of the most popular right now is this lighter green. A soft minty, celery-sage infused green making its way into home fashion. It is a beautiful color.

It is a natural progression as emerald green is so popular in design. We see lots of emerald green chairs, couches and pillows at the moment in designer interiors.

What is nice about this lighter celadon green is that it goes easily with emerald green. You can mix various greens with your existing furniture or décor. Nature is having a huge influence on pattern design as well and not only in color.

Milano – in seamint, from the Anthology Resource Collection

Granite, continues to be popular and we see it moving into lighting, mirrors and home accessories for 2022. You can never go wrong with a natural inspired trend like granite. We have our own granite inspired wallpaper “Milano” which does come in this new softer minty green which is blended with gold metallic, silver, grey and beiges so its an easy pattern to mix with other colors. Love the curvilinear shape of this wallpaper as it flows so nicely and is organic in feel. Green is known for being the color of communication. A lovely color to have in your home as it has calming and relaxing attributes.

Another popular trend we see are curvilinear shapes. Rounder shapes in furniture and home products are going to be more prevalent in home fashion in 2022. Curved chairs, curved couches and curved lines in modern design patterns like in our new “Lines” pillows coming out this fall, are all about softer, rounder lines and shapes to live with.

This trend reflects how natures organic influence is really starting to shape in products for home design. The wallpaper reflects the organic influence in design, with rounder shapes and more curvilinear lines. Easy to live with because it flows naturally and visually.

If you want a modern pattern inside your home, this one is the perfect match for you. Check it out on daisybennettdesigns.com in the Anthology Resource Collection. Pattern is Milano.

Transitional Wallpaper Designs

July 30, 2021

I want to share a great way to decorate your home with wallpaper. It’s a really nice transitional type of pattern. The crackle pattern, Tribeca, from my Anthology Resources Collection.

What I love about these types of patterns is that it is transitional, which means it blends traditional style with modern design. So, it’s not really contemporary, but you are also not really traditional.

We love these types of patterns because they look great with traditional style furniture. Or, if you lean more towards a modern design, this pattern would look really great as well.

Tribeca from the Anthology Resource Collection

The crackle pattern comes in this aqua blue, which we love because it brings in the blues from the sky outside. Nature is a great inspiration for design!

Transitional wallpaper looks great as a feature wall in a foyer or in a dining room. We have even seen it used on a ceiling! Don’t forget the 5th wall in your home.

Choose your favorite color

Besides the teal, Tribeca also comes in sliver, navy, gold metallic, and a citrus green.

Acanthus Leaf Inspires Modern Style Décor

July 16, 2021

Today, I am going to introduce you to a very interesting wallpaper design— the Acanthus leaf.

image of acanthus leaf wallpaper as modern style decor

The History of the Acanthus Leaf Design

Did you know that the Acanthus leaf design was a  very popular wallpaper design during historic times? The shape of the leaves in this design were  inspired by the architectural pillars and designs of the classic buildings in Europe. In fact, the Acanthus leaf is one of the most popular elements seen in the classic Willow Boughs design, a wallpaper design proliferated by William Morris during the Victorian era.

Inspired a Modern Style Décor

Today, it is still a design loved by many— but if you want something simpler, my tip is to look at your clothing and what you wear because that says a lot about what kind of colors and patterns  you like to live with .

If you like classic, then leaves would be perfect for your style but in this wallpaper pattern, Whisper, these leaves are designed in a transitional style which blends modern with traditional together. This creates a transitional decor style.  Leaves are easy to live with as they tend to flow naturally  in nature, which has been captured in this viney leaf wallpaper.  Shown in an off white with a pearl shine to the leaves, this patterns exudes elegance yet is simple and clean in design.

Whisper from my Woodlands Resource Collection in Glitter Gray and White

The beauty of a transitional leaf design  is that it blends well with traditional as well as modern furniture. You can never go wrong when one has been inspired by nature and architecture. Thanks to the great pattern designer William Morris who really made leaves  popular in wallpaper and they still continue  today to be stylish for all types of interiors.

How Surface Print Wallpaper is Made

July 2, 2021

how surface print wallpaper is made, image of a decorated wallpaper

Have you ever wondered, how did they make that? Interested to learn how surface print wallpaper is made?

History of How Wallpaper was Made

The surface print rollers used to make wallpaper were originally developed in Lancashire, England way back in 1873. I have visited there, and was fortunate enough to make some…it was fascinating!

In the old days, craftsman hand-carved each roller and one roller represented one color. Usually the maximum colors for a surface printed wallpaper would be 12 colors.

Its process is similar to potato printing which gives off a blotted effect on the paper, so it looks hand blocked. On the surface print machine a felt cloth is used on each roller to pick up the ink color and transfer it onto the roller, where it then rolls the ink color onto paper. It’s a very meticulous process but gives off the most beautiful textural effect to the wallpaper.

There are very few surface print rollers available now, some you can find in Italy and England and  one or two in America.

Surface print wallpaper was very popular in the early 1950’s and and carried through into the 1990’s but new technology started to replace the expensive printing process.

Today, a laser machine is used to etch the design onto steel roller. No longer do they use wood rollers.

Final Thoughts and Video

I hope this lesson on how wallpaper is made, was helpful. Make sure to watch the video for the full details! If you have any questions or would like more information on our designs, please reach out or comment below. Be sure to follow on Instagram and Pinterest

Mixing Patterns with a Chinoiserie Mural

June 18, 2021

We love mixing patterns, especially with our popular Chinoiserie Blossom Mural. It is easy to do, so I want to show you how we mixed these 3 patterns together for a well designed home.

image of wallpaper blue with other patterns text overlay, mixing patterns with chinoiserie

Choose A Featured Pattern

If you want to create a visually appealing space that flows with color. Start with your favorite mural. We chose the silver grass cloth Blossom Mural to be the featured pattern.

When mixing patterns, start with your favorite mural print. We have a few to choose from here at daisy bennett designs. Then select a color or colors from the mural that you want to carry throughout your home.

We chose the blues from the beautiful bird in the mural.

Choose a Texture

Next, you want to select a texture. We chose this navy grass cloth wallpaper, Soliloquy, from the Anthology Resource Collection. Textured wallpaper adds depth and separates it from the mural, yet carries the blues into another room.

image of navy soliloquy wallpaper

The main pattern, the mural, would be in a main dining room, hallway or bedroom, and the blue texture wallpaper would be great in a connecting hallway, under a chair rail, or in an office or den.

Choosing your Third Pattern

The third pattern we chose is the Catwalk Leopard pattern in blue and white. The white background makes if fresh while also separating it from the blue grass texture wallpaper in the next room.

catwalk sample image wallpaper in blue and white

Animal prints are great because the add a bit of whimsy while at the same time, add texture and color to a space.

This leopard print brings in the blues form the texture and the blue from the birds in the mural. Perfect animal print for a ceiling,  a powder room, bedroom or kitchen.

Overview for Mixing Patterns

Basically, you start with your mural as your main pattern. Then pick a texture and then a simple print, like the leopard for the last space.

Another tip, You should use 3 different scales in patterns so they do not conflict visually with one another.

Three different patterns yet they all flow together. Have some fun and try mixing patterns  in your home! Enjoy!

How to Accessorize A Blush & Burnished Gold Metallic Birdcage Wallpaper

April 26, 2021

Blush Bird Wallpaper

I want to share three ideas on how to accessorize a beautiful blush Audubon wallpaper. As part of the Anthology Collection, this wallpaper has several elements such as gold metallic highlights on the bird cages and includes a Hummingbird, Titmouse, Cardinal and other colorful birds.

Blush Audubon Wallpaper

                                                                                                                        Anthology Resource Collection

Birds symbolize  different meanings. Often birds represents freedom, love, and peace, and each one has a different meaning and symbolism. The Titmouse symbolizes faith and blessings that are coming into your life. The Cardinal represents equilibrium and mystery. The Hummingbird represents joy, love, and healing. You also have the Robin, known as the Christmas bird. If  you see a Robin, make a wish as supposedly in folklore, your wish will come true, they say.er

Here are some ideas of what  accessories you can use to put with this blush Audubon Wallpaper:

1. Coral Accessories

A coral accessory brings out the orange in the birds. When used in a bathroom, hang a coral towel with the wallpaper,  this helps the corals and reds pop out in the wallpaper.  Colored accessories highlight a room and help bring out the accent colors in the wallpaper.                                                                                                                                       Audubon Wallpaper

2. Navy Accessories

Another color that looks great with blush is navy. It’s classic and popular among Americans. The Navy color becomes the accent color for the room against the wallpaper.  This would look great in a powder room as well, in a dining room and bedroom. Navy brings out the blues and greens in the wallpaper.

3. Chartreuse Yellow Pillow

The Audubon pattern has a mix of whimsical elements in it such as lemons which makes the wallpaper more interesting visually. In the 1950’s this would be called a conversational print or novelty print.  Accenting with an animal print fabric like this chartreuse  zebra fabric helps bring the yellow and lemons out in the wallpaper. Use your wallpaper pattern as a color guide. Pick one or two colors from the print and use those colors as your accent pieces when decorating a room. This can help you create focal points in your interior space as well.  By having accent colors in a rooms decor it makes the room more inviting and visually pleasing.

Those are just some color ideas you can use with this blush Audubon wallpaper from the Anthology Resource Collection. You can always use a darker or lighter couch in front of wallpaper as it makes the furniture pieces stand out in the space. The couch should be a solid color so it’s not overwhelming. You can have  some fun with your decorating. For instance, add a lemon motif  pillow on a navy couch, that would bring out the lemons in the wallpaper and carry the theme onto the furniture.                                                                                                          Zanzibar Zebra Fabric from Notting Hill Collection

We love giving you decorating, color and pattern ideas as we know wallpaper is the finishing touch.
